Title: Bug in Point. Station/Offset from polyline
Post by: MVRAO on August 21, 2010, 06:12:49 PM
Dear Sir,

I have extracted the offsets of text (results shown in my attachment) from polyline by using the point, station/offset from polyline command.

But for some points iam getting error results in offset width.

Therefore you are requested to do the needful to find the problem.

Thanks & Rgds,

MVRAO

Hi!

I don’t think the odd result depends on CadTools. I think it is due the alignment you are using.
If you try to draw a perpendicular line from one of the text that has this behavior to the alignment you will discover that it is impossible to get a hit near the text position. There is no solution!

The alignment need to have same tangent angle for joined segments. If not there is no solution and therefore the shortest perpendicular intersections can be far away.

There are two ways to get better result. First you could use a alignment that doesn’t have tangent errors between elements (2D line with arcs). This is only possible if the alignment doesn’t have any spirals.

The second method is to move labels that gives the odd results. What I mean is moving them to a position that have a perpendicular solution close to the alignment.
