Swept path for a tanker

Hello!

First of all thank you for this great tool.

First problem

I have a tanker data:
kerb to kerb turning radius : 6.61 m
WB: 3.215
Max track width: 2.55 m

Is it possible to calculate Max wheel turning angle based on this data?

Using trigonometric function I can come up with sth like:

arcsin(3.215/6.61) = 29.1 degrees

However, if I input this angle to the turning simulation window it gives me min. turning radius of 6.61m for centerline which is the same as turning radius kerb to kerb - believe this is incorrect?

Could someone advise on how I should proceed here?

Second problem

I created a 2D polyline and plotted a swept path - got first envelope. This vehicle must reverse using the same polyline (he will drive in and rear out). If I copy this polyline and create swept path with the field "Reverse direction" ticked I get a second envelope for the reversing maneuver?. The last thing is to overlay first envelope with second one and create resultant from both?

Hi!

Q1. Check the help file, there is a image of how minimum turning radius is calulated. Your calculation seems to be correct though

Q2. Reverse direction in this case refer to changing direction of the path, not reversing the vehicle. in theory, reversing a vehicle would result in a identical solution as traveling forward. However in practice this isn’t true. You may add some extra space for the truck, the driver needs to oscillate the front of the truck. A single truck might need less space than a truck with a towed part, a more complicated vehicle need more oscillating. This software only supports traveling forward.
