Surface Cross Sections

Hello
I have been trying to create cross sections from a surface and I continually get overflow errors. At first I thought it was because I wasn't registered, but now I am and I continue to get overflow errors causing the program to crash. The surface was created from a tin created by another program (LDD). The surface seems OK and the cross section polylines are within the boundaries of the tin. I am using Autocad version 2006. Any ideas?

Interesting, the surface profile option works just fine. I'll just use that since I don't need offsets. So whats the main difference between profiles and sections?

Check the surface properties. "Edit surface" and the Surface data tab. Is the elevation correct?
Check if there are any duplicate points on the section polyline (Use Polyline Tools, Remove duplicates..)

You could also attach the surface file and your dwg with the section polyline to a mail to me and I will look into it.

The difference between Surface profile and Surface Cross sections is that Surface profile shows the surface along a reference line and Cross sections shows the surface perpendicular to that line. It’s like slicing  bread.

I see now. I totally misunderstood the purpose of the cross section option. I'm just taking random sections through a surface without regard to any previously defined alignment. The surface profile option works perfectly for that.

Hello, first of all thank You for this fine program - it's a good set of tools- no matter free or not (I prefer free :-).
I have the same problem as mentioned above - when I pick a 3D polyline - I get a message "Error: Overflow". I have no idea what causes it. Nothing more is displayed, but the program continues (does not exit). I cant get the cable to be displayed, just the central alignment. The surfaces have been created by CadTools.
My config is AutoCAD Map 3D 2010, 64 bit, 8 GB RAM. It's a small design.

It's hard to say what the problem is without having any data.
Please attach the DWG (with the alignment) and the surface file to a mail and send it to me.
