CadTools General / Portable version of CADTools
« Last post by bearsh2012 on August 03, 2026, 04:33:39 AM »
I was wondering if there is any possibility to obtain a portable version of CADtools for my workflow.
All thel MSI installers require administrator privileges to execute, which I cannot get on the workstations I regularly use.

CadTools General / Re: Release Autocad/Map 27.x

Hi,

If you have installed a new version of AutoCAD then type in ACADVER in the command line.

Close CadTools and restart it, in the settings for "Cad version" look for a item corresponding to your CAD version (AutoCAD.Application."ACADVER") select that item.

While loading the settings form CadTools search Windows Registry for Cad version supported by CadTools.

CadTools General / Block insert problem
« Last post by KristjanK on June 18, 2026, 08:42:35 AM »
I have a problem when I try to insert a block, a message pops up which says : "Invalid argument XScale in INSERT block".
(I select a block at point type, pick a block from my autocad, paste the exel values, and then this warning pops up when i press draw).
We use this way for many years,  but it does not work on few computers for about few weeks).
Does anyone know what the problem is?
Thank you

CadTools Tips and Tricks / Re: points to surface
« Last post by Lars on June 17, 2026, 09:51:23 PM »
The first questions answer could be achieved by first use "Draw from Coordinates " to place all surveyed points as text in a drawing, the label of the points should be the elevation.
Next step is to drape the text labels onto the surface using "Edit View Surface" finally export the text strings to Excel. You will end up with text labels in Excel with surveyed elevation as text and surface elevation from the Z value. Then it is easy to set up a Excel column with the difference.

I'm sorry but I don't understand the second question.

CadTools Tips and Tricks / points to surface

Hello,

Sorry if these topics were answered before.
Is there a way to get annotated as text the difference between some points that we have surveyed and a design surface?
Also is there a way to get as annotated text the design level of a surface in a grid pattern?

Thank you very much

The recent Windows 11 update (KB5094126) is a known cause for issues in CAD systems.
If you are using "Draw from Coordinates" command in CadTools and get the following error: the parameter is incorrect you are probably affected by this issue.

To correct this, you can uninstall the update or search for information about your CAD system and KB5094126.
I hope next KB from Microsoft addresses this problem!
