To simpify 2d polylines
« on: October 19, 2010, 06:10:56 AM »
Hi Lars
sometime I want to simplify lines (like contours polylines with an elevation)
If I convert them to 3d polylines simplify and convert again to 2d polylines
I give them elevation 0 for all and from properties menu
give them the new elevation .
But it is very easy if I can simplify 2d or 3d lines.
I hope to see it in new build .

Something also that was helpfull (not misinterpreted for me)
was min radius at vehicle line simulation . I used for parking places - garaze
when we must find the most minimum radius so we must give a radius to fillet and try

Hi!

Nice tip!

If you are using AutoCAD Map you have the "Drawing cleanup" command. I don't know if CadTools will support 2D polylines in the simplify, the arcs in a 2D poly probably mess things up. I'll look into that.

The minimum radius was misinterpreted by some users, this text is from Bentley's forum: The "Min Turning Radius" is not correct. For a WB-67 US (The only one I've done so far) MSTurn gives a radius of 50.40 feet. According to AASHTO's most current specifications this should be 45.00 feet. For reference the standards I'm using can be found in AASHTO's Geometric Design of Highways and Streets 2004 on pages 20 (Min Turning Radius) and 34 (WB-67 Dimensions).

I'll consider to reveal that label again but with a clarification that the value is for the truck only.
